When to Seek a Higher Level of Care

There is something magical about Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). Being able to receive intensive, individualized care while staying connected to “real life” can be incredibly beneficial for people recovering from trauma. PHP is designed to provide structure without separating individuals from their homes, families, and/or everyday comforts allowing them to attend program, learn new skills, and practice those skills when they leave, returning the next day to discuss how they worked with their treatment team.

Skyway Behavioral Health embraces our PHP level of care, that includes:

  • One-on-one therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Medication Management
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Art Therapy
  • Somatic Therapy

Who benefits most from PHP?

Because of our well-rounded programming and dedicated therapists and doctors, we’ve helped over 1,000 clients benefit from our PHP level of care after just 2 years. PHP is perfect for clients who are:

  • Recovering from a crisis (not currently in crisis)
  • Feeling stuck in weekly/biweekly therapy with a desire to do more intensive work
  • Experiencing the effects of complex trauma
  • Interested in intensive DBT work

Who should seek a higher level of care beyond PHP?

To benefit from a PHP, clients must be active in their own recovery. Trauma is a disorder of avoidance, and as scary as life may be, getting help may seem just as scary. Clients who may need a higher level of care beyond PHP are:

  • Not able to actively participate in healing
  • Experiencing a crisis currently
  • Medically unstable

When you are struggling, it can be hard to know what the best next step is, and it isn’t the same for everyone. We have an amazing team of admissions professionals who guide and refer clients to programs that will meet their current needs, even if Skyway is not the best fit at the moment.  We love PHP but not everyone is ready for it, and when they are ready, we will be here for them.
